“The clearest way into the Universe
is through a forest wilderness.”
Welcome! I am a California native with roots all over the country, but currently transplanted into the gorgeous Texas Hill Country. Aside from spending time bribing my family to explore the trails with me, I love creating recipes that are gluten- and nut-free -- and, my Italian husband (who's a Parisian chef at heart) enjoys the challenge of bringing them to life with me! We are a homeschooling family with vegetable garden aspirations and a love of travel and being together! :)
After struggling with IBS, a dairy intolerance, BAM, and Celiac Disease for 20 years, you learn a thing or two about modifying your favorite dishes so you can eat something and still feel good. In 2017, we welcomed our son who has a life-threatening peanut allergy. As devastating as the initial news was, we felt prepared in how to manage food in our home and avoid cross-contact. You can read more about our story here and how we hope to empower other families on the same journey.
In past decades, homeschooling was a very foreign concept fraught with concerns over effectiveness and socialization to those unfamiliar with it. Homeschooling today is a whole new world full of every imaginable type of curriculum, teaching method, socialization opportunities, and SO much more. It was something we mentally dabbled in from the time our daughter was born in 2011, but didn't gather the courage to pull the trigger until a big move in 2019 and the opportunity to really design our life around our family's dreams and goals was sitting right in front of us. Read more about our journey here.
We were born and raised in California, but careers transplanted us to several different spots throughout the country. When we uprooted again in 2019 to Texas, we really thought long and hard about what we wanted that to mean for our family. We were tired of the fast pace we'd become so accustomed to and the frantic energy that seemed to overshadow the culture in which we lived. We welcomed the slower southern pace, more quality family time in which we could truly be present, and what seemed to be a whole new set of opportunities afforded to us by simplifying our lives.
